The Bowling Green Assembly Plant Builds a C7 Stingray Corvette

By Chris Demorro as republished from CorvetteOnline.  Transcript from the Video:

For nearly 35 years, the center of the Chevrolet Corvette world is Bowling Green, Kentucky, but the assembly plant has never produced a Corvette Stingray until the introduction of the C7 model last year. GM had to give the Bowling Green Assembly Plant a top-to-bottom renovation to build its cutting edge sports car, and the Velocity Channel’s How it’s Made: Dream Cars series took an inside peek at this Corvette mecca. How C7 Z06 Corvettes are built…

BY SEAN SZYMKOWSKI as republished from GMAuthority.com

Dateline: 8-7-15  It’s hard to take a closer look at manufactured goods, especially automobiles. Every piece and part has been welded, clipped and bonded together at a rate we couldn’t even begin to fathom. But, when we do peer into the manufacturing process, it’s astonishing. Take this video of the 2016 C7 Corvette Stingray for example.

The 2016 C7 Corvette recently made it onto Velocity‘s “How It’s Made: Dream Cars”, and the channel has provided a small sliver of the build process for us to gawk at.

Chevy’s Latest, Greatest Monster Mouse C7 Z06 LT4

chevrolet-corvette-zo6-supercharged-jpg

Minutes after the C7 made its debut, fans asked, “Where’s the Z06?”
Well, Z06s are on the road now and they’re “OMG!!!” machines.

Words and Art by Scott Teeters as republished from Vette Magazine, online at SuperChevy.com

Beginning in 1963, there were only two Corvette models: the coupe and convertible. The big-blocks came along in 1965 and by 1969 buyers had seven engine options over the base 327/300, including the ZL1. Fast-forward to 2010 and buyers had six models to choose from, with the stout 430hp LS3 for the coupe, convertible, and Grand Sport coupe and convertible; the 505hp LS7 for the Z06; and the 638hp LS9 for the ZR1. That’s a tough act to follow, but so far, the C7 is showing us it’s got plenty of mojo. Continue reading

BRAVISSIMO! C7 Z06 – NEW Z06 Tribute Art Print

1963 C2 Z06, 2001 C5 Z06, 2006 C6 Z06 & 2015 C7 Z06

Z06-Tribute-63-01-06-15

2015-Z06-SideAs a salute the success and rave reviews of the new C7 Z06, my new prints show the original, 1963 Z06, the C5 2001 Z06, the C6 2006 Z06, and the C7 2015 Z06, available in three unique graphic treatments – Brushed Metal, Diazo Blueprint Paper, and Kraft Paper!

The Z06 has worked out to be one of the most interesting stories in Corvette lore. What started out as an obscure “for racers only” RPO option that hardly anyone knew about, has become GM’s flagship performance car. This is nothing less than astonishing. Heck, even General Motors’ CEO Mary Barra just got herself a black-on-black Z06 convertible. I was joking with Doug MacDonald (Dave MacDonald’s brother), “You think the workers might have been a little nervous bolting together The Queen Mary’s Z06? NO PRESSURE, guys! HA!” Kidding aside, it’s good to see that she has good taste!

2015-Z06-FrontUp to the end of April 2015 Chevrolet reported 8,206 Z06s sold. That number already beats out the C6 Z06’s best sales year from 2007 when Chevrolet sold 7,760 Z06s. With a total-to-date (as of the end of April 2015) of 31,377 Corvettes built, 2,618 were Z06 models, that’s 26.18% of the 2015 production so far. The plant has a full two more months of figures to announce, as production of the 2015 Corvettes ends on June 22, 2015. (Check out the 2015 Z06 TV Commercial, click the “Continue reading” link below)

Here’s What Corvettes Mean To People

CorvetteHomecoming-600

The other day Joe Pruitt, the Event Coordinator/Owner of the National Corvette Homecoming event contacted me to tell me about their new event video by Efran Films that covered the National Corvette Homecoming 2014 event. This is a very touching video that captures what Corvettes mean to people. As we know, they’re not just “car” they’re something else. Actually, the people in the video say it perfectly. This video has heart! Enjoy!Scott

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is Chevy’s New World Order Supercar

2015-chevrolet-corvette-z06-illustrated

by Scott Teeters as republished from Vette Magazine

The Z06 lineage is amazing: ’63 RPO Z06 “Racer Kit,” ’01-’04 Hardtop “Tough Guy,” ’06-’13 “Badass Quasi-racer,” and now the ’15 “Supercar for Everyone.” The C5 Z06 took advantage of the hardtop’s more rigid structure. The C6 Z06 (coupe-only) took the hydroformed frame structure to a new level and was crafted in all aluminum. The base C7 coupe and roadster now have an aluminum structure that is more rigid than the C6 Z06. It’s so good that the design can easily handle an additional 190 horsepower in coupe and convertible configurations. I started out with one year for each generation Corvette, as shown on the slider at the top of the homepage. Plus, we have available the 1962 Corvette, the 1967 Corvette Coupe, the 1982 Corvette, the 1996 Corvette Coupe, and 2002 Corvette Coupe. Corvette C1-C7 in Review…The Most Successful Car in Detroit History?

Illustrated Corvette Series No. 200 1953 – 2014 Corvette

“DETROIT’S ULTIMATE SUCCESS STORY?” by K Scott Teeters as originally published in Vette magazine

In the February 2014 issue of VETTE Magazine, I celebrated my 200th installment of The Illustrated Corvette Series with a look back at the entire history of the Corvette. The title of the column is, “DETROIT’S ULTIMATE SUCCESS STORY?” The Corvette has come a very long way from being a car that many inside GM wanted to kill off to becoming General Motors’ flagship halo car.

While the article in VETTE only shows one Corvette from all seven generations of Corvettes, I wanted to do something extra special. So, I created the 1’ x 3’, “Seven Generations of Corvettes 1953-2014 Corvettes” art print, available through our Fine Art America store, HERE.

The print is available in a variety of sizes and can be custom framed right from the site.

3x1-1953-2014-Corvettes-72

Here is the story……..

2013 may be remembered as the most extraordinary year in Corvette history. Not only was 2013 the last year of the sixth generation Corvette, it was also the 60th anniversary of the first Corvette. The only way it could have been better was if the C7 have been released as a ‘13 model. Arguably, the C7 was the most anticipated Corvette ever seen. Illustrated Corvette Series No. 193 – 2014 C7 Corvette Arrives!

Dateline: 5.1.13

The 2014 C7 Corvette Arrives… FINALLY!

ICS-II-2014-C7-Corvette-TN

After what was without a doubt the longest, most tortuous buildup for a new generation Corvette ever, Chevrolet finally unleashed the 2014 C7 Corvette at the Detroit Auto Show on January 13, 2013. It was exhausting and I thought that Tadge Juechter, Tom Peters, and Ed Welburn would never stop talking. Finally, in a “TA-DA!” style, the red C7 came up and over a ramp, making it look like the car leapt on stage. It turned out that the spy photos and computer generated illustrations were close… but not quite on the mark. No, what we saw was better. But, I expected this, as the same thing happened before the C6 arrived – only we weren’t all on the torture rack for months on end.

This was the fifth new generation Corvette arrival I have seen, and it’s never easy. The ‘68 C3 wasn’t “Mako Shark” enough for many. The ‘84 C4 seemed too straight-lined and slab-like. The ‘97 C5 was called “too round” by some. The ‘05 C6 seemed like a crisped up C5 and was deemed a “C5.5” by a few. When it comes to Corvettes, you just can’t make everyone happy. However, each new generation, except for the C3, dished up stacks of impressive mechanical improvements, each taking the new generation to a new and higher level of performance. Lance Miller & Scott Teeters Talk About the NEW C7 Corvette

The C7 2014 Corvette is FINALLY here and guess what? It’s a STINGRAY!

Listen to the archived show for FREE by going Here.

Lance-Miller-FB-72Our guest on FarOutRadio.com  is Lance Miller of Carlisle Events, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, one of the premier car event companies in America. From April to September Carlisle Events hosts 13, three-day car show events with the August “Corvettes at Carlisle” show arguably drawing the largest crowd. For Corvette fans, Corvettes at Carlisle is THE Corvette event of the year.

Like legions of fans, Lance and I watched the all-new, next generation 2014 Corvette Stingray debut via the internet live streaming. Since the mechanical details of the all new flagship sports car have been known for a few months, we  talk about the aesthetics of the new car, as well as the overall package. Aside from finally getting to see the real car, the second most exciting thing about the debut was the announcement that for the first time since 1976, the C-7 Corvette wears the name, “Stingray.”

The new Corvette is more powerful and lighter with extensive use of aluminum, magnesium, and carbon fiber. And what we saw last night is the BASIC 2014 Corvette. What’s not known is will there be a next level up Grand Sport model, or a near track-ready Z06 version, and a new monster version of the ZR1.
